Welcome to the Center for Local
and Regional Development
The Center for Local and Regional Development is a research
center within the social sciences, with main focus on local and
regional development.
Research projects
The research projects at the Center for Local and Regional
Development have included projects within industrial
development, especially regarding the restructuring of the
Faroese economy in the aftermath of the economic crises of the
early 1990s. The research projects have also encompassed project
regarding Municipalities and small communities, as well
as project on other issues related to the questions of local and
regional development. See also Research Projects.
Cooperations
Cooperation is for a small research center in a small
society of great importance. For the same reason the Center for
Local and Regional Development is cooperating with researchers
and institutions in Faroes, as well as researcher and
institutions outside the Faroes, in for example Denmark, Norway,
Iceland, Scotland, Canada, to mention a few.
